Forest Friends

-- Good morning sugary peeps --

Janine here --- Halloween's upon us and all those scary witches, monsters and ghosts knocking at your front door. However, Christmas is fast approaching and if you're anything like me you've already started making cards, buying presents and writing up Christmas lists. So to get you in the mood I thought I would make a Christmas card using the sweet digi stamp 'Forest Friends' - isn't it cute. You can buy 'Forest Friends' from Funkykits here

I used a shaped card base and matted it with card and patterned paper. I printed off the sweet Sugar Nellie image and die cut it into a circle together with a scalloped circle mat. The image was coloured with Copic markers and touched up with pencils, then to add a little interest I stamped snowflakes around the circle using distressing inks. To finish off I attached a few snowflakes, gems and a touch of glitter.

To see more Sugar Nellie creations why not join our Facebook page (just search for the Official Sugar Nellie Group).

For more details of everything I used please check out my blog here.

Thanks for dropping by, and don't forget to call tomorrow to see more cards from my fab teamies.

Hugs

Poinsettia Girl

Good morning, Fi here and my scheduled Wednesday post!

For today's card I have used this fabby image called "Poinsettia Girl" from Leanne Ellis at Sugar Nellie.

I coloured this little cutie with spectrum noirs, the dies are brand spanking new which I bought at the SECC at the weekend.  They are 2 separate dies...a Memory Box corner poinsettia and the other is from Poppy Dies....it actually took me a bit of time to build the flowers up.  I used both red and black card to cut out...I layered them up and then started chopping away the tiny red flowers to stick on the black...phew!!  I also added teeny weeny pearls the centres of the flowers. The backing paper is from Echo Park - Bundled Up which I layered onto black cardstock and then I distressed the edges.

Pop back for more sugar inspiration tomorrow.

Welcome our guest - Lynda

Hi, I'm Lynda Lindley. I live in the beautiful state of Washington with my husband, two daughters, and one crazy smart dog. I am so excited to be a guest designer for Sugar Nellie today!

I have been crafting for over twenty years; starting out first stamping and then expanding into all areas of paper crafting. I am a self proclaimed challenge junkie and don’t feel grounded unless I'm creating something.

I love to learn new techniques and find myself getting lost in how-to videos and online classes.

When I'm not stamping, painting, beading, knitting, or scrapbooking, I can often be seen with inky fingers volunteering at my daughters' schools.

You can find more of my work on my blog:

The first card features this wonderful new Girl image(available in November)

I started my project by first deciding on the color scheme and decided that I wanted to back her with this wonderful pattern paper from Fancy Pants from their Park Bench line. I colored her using my Spectrum Noir colored pencils. I used chalk for the very light background color and added the rubon sentiment from my stash. I then fussy cut the image and first matched it with some blue cardstock and then to the card base that was covered with the floral print pattern paper

The second card is this adorable Golfbuddy image. I colored the main image using my Spectrum Noir colored pencils. The background is created using chalk. I then added the sentiment rubon. I mounted the colored image onto two layers of cardstock. The flower and button were added and the card was complete.

Thank you again for the opportunity to design for you all today.
Lynda

A Gift of Time Together

Morning Sugar Fans...

Hope you're all well - and for those that aren't... hope you're better soon!

Christine here today with my DT card...  and today I've used another fairy (hmmmm I can see a pattern forming here - would anyone guess I liked fairies?)

I've used 'Time Together' - available HERE from the store at Funky Kits.

She came in digi format, and was a joy to colour (as are all the fairies).  Now.... I could tell you that I wanted to just focus on the image by not putting any more details... but that would be a lie as I just ran out of time so had to throw this together quickly!  And I could tell you that it's perfect... but it isn't, as I put the little postmark stamp upside down!  I mean... who ever heard of being able to put a circle 'upside down'?  Hmmmf!  But I had no time to even cover it with a snowflake, so sorry, it stays! LOL!

More details can be found on my blog HERE - but basically I used my Copics to colour..  an LOTV Festive Trimmings 8 x 8 pad of Christmas paper.. a Martha Stewart snowflake border punch... a Lil' Inkers Stitched Square Die.. and a little postmark stamp from LOTV.

Do drop by tomorrow for more inspiration..

Hugs

Little Angel...

Good morning sugar fans, Fi here with your Wednesday posting!

Hope you are well!

Now I am sharing this card with you, my lovely friend asked me to make a Thinking of You card for one of her friends whos daughter sadly passed away. I thought I would use this lovely Diane Duda stamp which I think is just so perfect, sadly it's not available but I needed to share it but there are still lots of other Diane Duda stamps available from Funky Kits.

I have used digi papers from The Sweet Shoppe and layered them onto bazzill card.....I added some stitching to each of the layers....yes no doodles!!  The cloud and love heart also came with the digi pack...aren't they perfect?

The flowers are a mix of rolled flowers from die-namics and a couple of flowers which I had bought and I added a couple of teeny weeny butterflies too.

Pop back tomorrow for some more inspiration.

SOS - pulling pints

Good morning Sugar Addicts, the sun is shining and it's a fine day here in the north east of Scotland.
This week has been manic, my brain is mince after all the paperwork, licences, contracts and forms to be filed. But we got there and with only two members of staff I was left short this week.

I had to fill a few shifts myself. Working in a lounge bar is something I did for a very short time a long long time ago. The drinks were not the issue, as most folks will tell you where to find thier favourite tipple. The big culture shock came with the language in the public bar. I did have to remove my youngest from hovering.

Today I have open house for close friends, a wee look about and an exchange of ideas before I start knock the place to bits. Still struggling to get someone to fit a wood burning stove, all the local business as booked up into next year. It was the one thing I promised myself after the last two premises have not been what you would call cozy.

I had better have a quick run around and to some housework before heading down the cost. Even hubby is coming down today to see what's what. There are no lodgers in at the weekend so it's also time to change around the rooms. Making beds was never my strong point. I'm Learning lots of new skills in this job.

Have a peaceful weekend

Karen

Welcome our guest - Annette

I'm a blogger and papercraft addict. I started cardmaking by making my wedding invitations in 2005 but since then I've made so many friends in the blogging community, and leaned so much. My creations and style have changed immensely since those early days! Sugar Nellies have become a firm favourite of mine. I particularly love the Fairy Glenn and Furry Friends images, but have recently fallen for the Scrapberrys too. There are so many gorgeous designs to choose from, in both rubber or digi. I'm so proud to be given the opportunity to guest design. I hope my creations inspire you to check out the gorgeous images for yourself. Happy crafting.

I love anything cute, so these images are right up my street! The furry friends are just adorable and are fun to colour. I felt they deserved to be the focal point, so kept my layout incredibly simple (but managed to sneak in some pink!). I tried to create some candle light on the kitty's face using a shimmer pen. The Christmas card image reminded me of Mary Poppins with all the animals crowding round the girlie. I opted for a non traditional colour scheme of Mint Chocolate (with some pink thrown in here too). I love the squirrels running around her feet.

Thanks again for letting me play along.
Hugs

Ssshhhhh don't say it out loud

But it's defiantly looking like the season for all things crafty to move up a notch.
Cards, calendars, gifts and home decorations are being pinned for more and more ideas at this time of years.

As I browser the web it's nice to find something a little different. I'm taking a trip to visit Debbie and Tom for thanksgiving and need to plan my pressies in advance. I have several home decor ideas which will go well on there new home, but I also thought that this would be ideal.

http://www.bowerpowerblog.com/2009/12/12-days-of-christmas-advent-calendar/

This would give them a lovely selection of decorations for their tree or even a twig branch in a vase should look lovely with some classic hanging decorations. I might have a rummage around the house and turn something into a Scottish heirloom. Might even throw in some tiny toys, those things that your forever standing on in the kids bedroom. I'm sure I could find some of Debbie's old junk about.
A little ribbon and wire, a few beads and I think I could come up with something in a neutral tone that she could put away every year and remember a little of past times.

That's all for me today.
Hope you have a great weekend
Karen

Hey Little Birdie....

Good morning everyone ----

Janine here to share a bit of sugary heaven with you. For this week's card I decided to use 'Hey Little Birdie', after spotting it on one of the new pre-coloured topper sheets produced by Hobby House.

I've create a 5" x 5" CAS card using only 2 colours to give a clean and crisp look. I used Copics markers to colour my image, adding stamped snowflakes and die cut stars around it. To finish off I added glitter to her wings and some die cut holly leaves, berries and a bow.

The digital stamp can be found on Funkykits here.

For more details of everything I used please check out my blog here.

Thanks for dropping by, and don't forget to call by tomorrow to see more fab cards.

Fleur

Good morning, Fi here and my scheduled Wednesday post!

So for today's card I'm afraid it is very plain and simple as the colouring has taken almost since my last posting...very time consuming but I find it very therapeutic....still need practice though!!

This stamp is called "Fleur" and is from the Leanne Ellis range at Sugar Nellie!

I coloured Fleur with Derwent Inktense pencils....I am loving them!  The paper is from the Evergreen collection from Basic Grey which I layered onto kraft card. Did my usual doodling... The message has been in my stash forever but is from Stampin Up.

So does anybody have any tips for the inktense pencils??

Now sure how you can use them with digis but they are perfect with the rubber at Sugar Nellie...oh and I did hear there was rubber burning in the house of Sugar on Monday.....but the lovely Kate informed us it was a new delivery of rubber stamps....watch this space!!

Pop back for more sugar inspiration tomorrow.

SOS - this could be a long one

Yes indeed, as I start a new project, my sharing with you on a Sunday may go on for months and months!

In less than a week I collect the keys to a new business. Something totally unrelated to crafting but I don't think there is any more I can or want to do within the crafting world.

This chapter is completely new and totally out of my comfort zone.
One of the first things I had to do was sit a test for a city and guilds personal licence. That makes me the responsible one in the building when it comes to over seeing the sale of alcohol. Yikes!

Let's break it down a bit.

Firstly I went looking for a house to rent, but the monthly rent did not give me a great return, still far more than anything the bank could offer but, for me it still was looking good.
So I got distracted by a small hotel, room rental added up to more than a house, the price was about the same and here is the bonus, it had a public bar which was running well.
So I am soon to be a land lady and a publican!

In a small costal village near to where i stay, 5 minuets away. There were actually two village hotels for sale, the old fashioned pub with rooms that every village has. Totally out dated and dying s slow death.
I choose the smaller of the two, and then looked at all my options.

I was looking at the rental rooms, six plus another three within the owners accommodation.
The public bar worked well and had it's regulars.
The lounge bar, dinning room and kitchen were un used.

Then the brain starts working....
What about the lounge, could it be updated and could you bring back clientele.
What food would you have to offer in order to get a great name.

So many questions and lots and lots of potential.

But as this story unfolds, we will take it step by step.

I get the keys tomorrow,  I need local bar staff and the search is already on for a chef or good cook.
I'll get a right good look at everything and I am sure change my mind several times over. I am not under any pressure but don't want to miss out on Christmas trade.
It's going to be a learning curve but a challenge and fingers cross , it's one I will enjoy.
Catch up,next week and see if I am any nearer finding staff.
Enjoy your weekend
Karen

Welcome our guest - Marion

Marion Lones

Some of you may know me already, but for those who do not know who I am, just a quick something about me.
I am Marion Lones, 49 years old and live in the Netherlands,
I am happily married to Ruud and our two lovely black cats make our family complete.
Our cats are two sisters called Moppie and Droppie.
I am into card crafting a lot of years now, started with 3D pics and in the end colouring stamps.
I have been a fan for the Sugar Nellie stamps for about 4,5 years now.
I just love the sweetness in their images, that has not left even in the new stamps that were released recently.

I love to colour, it is so relaxing.
I always (hand)sew the paper edges of my cards and projects and usually there is always a cat somewhere present in my creation, these are my trademarks.
I love soft pastel colours and often use soft pastels tones on my cards and projects.
Besides the card/project making I love to do ceramic painting and crochet.
I love to try different colouring mediums when my purse allows me too :).

-------
Today I am honoured and proud to be in the spotlight at the Sugar Nellie blog.
I have been a fan of their stamps for many years.
For this occasion I made three new cards I want to share with you all.
So take a (hot) drink, something sweet whilst reading this long post.

First I made a card with this cute image, she is not available until Novemeber so look out for these 6 Beauties.

and here is the card and a closeup of that card:

I had so much fun colouring this image.
The image itself is so real and alife and loving that I just had to colour it.
The girl is so pretty and lovely to look at with her lovely smile.
I love a good challenge and this one was a real challenge for me.
I just loved doing the hair and the flowers.
I coloured the image with my copics.
I tried to colour the flowers as if they were real.
I left the background neutral blue so the image would pop out more.
Klik here for a direct orderlink to this image.
For my card I used Scrapberry papers.
The text is from a Joy crafts clear stamp sheet that I stamped on cardstock.
At the edges of this circle and on the heart I used distress paint.
The little angel is handmade with a mould.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My second card is made with this cute image, klik here for a direct orderlink:

and here is my card and closeups of the card with this sweet fairy:

What I love about the Sugar Nellie (Home Grown) range is that the
stamps are all so sweet and lovely and they always make me smile.
This cute fairy is no exception and did you see the sweet birdie next to her ?
I coloured the image with my copics and used Aleene's True snow on her boots and coat.
I alos springled some sparkles on it, but that is always hard to see in a pic.
I also added some stickles to the wings, which makes the wings look so real.
The white flower is handmade and the other two flowers are from Scrapberry.
Papers are from Studiolight.
The ribbon is grom Whiff of Joy and the little dove is selfmade with a mould.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now my last card as GDT, I used this image for my card; click here for a direct order link

And here is the project with some closeups that I made with this sweet image.

Oww another lovely image that I could colour up.
I just love the hair colour challenge on this one.
Also a challenge was to find the correct red and green shapes for the cute little elf.
It is such a lovely scenery the elf with this sweet girl.
I coloured them with my copics.
The cute Chrismas tree is a template from Dutchdobadoo.
I used a paper from Reprint.
The cute little trees are made of several materials such as vellum, corrugated
cardstock and cork.
I used distress paint on the corrugated cardstock for a shabby look.
It just felt as if I had to make a scenery with this image so I also
enclosed these lovely deers dies from Marianne Design.
The ribbon and brad are from Whiff of Joy.
The tekst on the craft is from the newest Dutchdobadoo xmas texts.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post.
It was fun to create for me with those gorgeous stamps and
I want to take the oppertunity to thank Karen and the rest of the DT team
for having me, I enjoyed every minute of being creative for you.
-------------

Looking forward to the new release, thanks again for having me.
Lots of hugs,
Marion
