Leanne Ellis ... A Little Hug

Hello everyone!  I have a card using a beautiful Leanne Ellis design as part of our Spotlight on Leanne Ellis.

This lovely image is A Little Hug and you can find her and the other Leanne Ellis stamps here at Funky Kits.

I colored the image with copics and colored pencils.  Since my papers have a busy pattern I thought it was probably best not to add a lot of fussy embellishments.  I added some ribbon with a bow and a diecut flower with a button in the center.  I hope you've been enjoying our Leanne Ellis projects.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

Hugs, Anita

Oh Yeah...I'm Feeling Sassy Today!

Good Morning :)

Today we have a new challenge posted on the Sugar Bowl.
The theme is "Anything Goes" with the only rule being you must include a Sugar Nellie image, either a digital image or rubber stamp.

As I mentioned last week, we have 3 new Sweeties that have joined our happy little gang and today we can view their first cards for the challenge blog.

It appears that these three new girlies all share the same trait...they are Sassy!
(but I already knew that about some of them!)

Lis has used my most favourite Simply Sassy stamp ever, Bella Bunting.
She's so beautiful and such a versatile image, perfect for many occasions.

Christine has inked up the Sassiest of Sassy's... Strike A Pose.
Christine remembers wearing boots just like those (in white PVC!) when they where all the rage. Of course, I'm nowhere near old enough to remember them myself *cough*.

And we have a double whammy from Julia with her fabulous use of two images...High School Student and

Three fabulous cards from three lovely ladies, each with their own unique style.

Thanks for looking.
Love Elaine xx

Happy Saturday everyone!

All we all enjoying our Leanne Ellis ‘Featurette’?

Haven’t our FABULOUS DT done a wonderful job of showcasing Leanne’s gorgeous stamps?

Oh, and just wait until you see what the other girls have to show you next week...

The lovely Leanne is also a crafter who makes the most stunning jewellery items!

I have been hooked since I first saw them…

Today, I am sharing some of my own collection of Leanne’s jewellery….YES, they’re ALL MINE!!!

Leanne sells these very occasionally in her Etsy store.

True Love - PENDANT

I am a very lucky girl!

These are ‘talking points’ whenever they’re worn, they’re very individual, and every one is a tiny little work of art made by Leanne’s fair hands!

The combination of her artwork and the vintage findings are just a perfect combination for me.

I eagerly await her making some more, you know, when she’s not busy being an artist of course!

Now, if you fancy a Leanne Ellis stamp fix…hop on over to Funky Kits where you’ll find the full range….

Will you perhaps, make a card and join us in our challenges over on Facebook and in The Sugar Bowl?

There are some super sweet sugary prizes to be won!

Enjoy your weekend!

Spotlight on Leanne Ellis - Patience

Hello Everyone! Jane here today and I have another card using a gorgeous Leanne Ellis stamp as part of our Spotlight on Leanne Ellis.

The image I have used on my card is called Patience and is available here from Funky Kits. I used some very old My Mind's Eye papers to create my card and added my usual stitching around the edges of all the layers.

I coloured my image using Promarkers and then cut it out and mounted it on a scalloped rectangle frame. I set an eyelet into the card and added a little apple charm. The sentiment is a rub on.

I finished the card with some flowers from my stash and some buttons and added some pretty little pink pearls to pick out some of the colours from my image. Make sure you join us for more of our Spotlight on Leanne Ellis throughout the week. Have a lovely Wednesday!

SOS - Patterns

Good morning Sugar Addicts, how has your week been?

It's been an easy week in the sugar mines, not much going on, a lot of tiding up and emptying boxes to see what exactly we have in stock. A good few lines in Funkykits near sell out but I don't think we will restock.
{waiting for a pallet of clearance deals to arrive, watch this space}

I am finding more and more orders for digital, it might be that our sugar addict are spread all over the world and its so hard waiting for a packet to arrive when you are a crafter. It might be the storage issue all crafter have, where to hide supplies. It could be the easy of printing perfect against smudging the ink or just the way that you can re size an image to what ever you need.

All these point are why digital stamps are out selling real rubber. As the rubber sells out I will hunt for the original art and see if it can be made into a digital file. It's not always possible due to quality of artwork and the licence we hold for different artist. After all there was no such thing as digital stamps four years ago.

I also see a trend for crafters to put down their trimmer and pick up a ball of wool.
Knitting and crochet along with sewing has been building up momentum
and usually crafters are flexible and willing to try out anything new,
most have been born crafters before finding papercrafting and
usually those blue peter kids can turn their hands to anything.

I am still lusting after Tabby's crochet word that Gayle highlighted last week.
I even took out a hook and watched a youtube clip about 6 times before I found myself beyond the start up row. I did a good few rows on the round but my tension and stitches were erratic at best. I was happy with my first try but it ain't going to be made in to any thing.

Now if you can knit I have a great pattern for you. If you start now you can have a warren of them done by Christmas and they make the sweetest gifts.

I have admired Julies work for many years and I even have an original, only the one which she kindly sent me a long time ago but its still very much loved and lonely.

If you have not guessed, it's a LITTLE COTTON RABBIT...

Julies BLOG

link to patterns from Julie direct   or you can find  patterns on ETSY
why not put Little Cotton Rabbits into Pinterest search box, adorable work.

and if you do plan on making these a much loved gifts,
remember a hand made card and gift tag would complete
the package, find your LCR stamps here.
Stocks are low, but if you buy the family kits we will give you a FREE foxy LCR stamp too.
I myself will be packing orders this week so just remember that
Foxy will be in your order too!

Before I go, its been birthday month in the House of Sugar

Saturday Shenanigans

Happy Saturday Everyone!

An especially Happy Birthday to our very own Fiona, the Sweetie who runs our Facebook challenges!

Now birthdays, for me, mean only one thing!

Cake!

And, some of the finest I’ve ever seen are made by Cat Lawlor of The Cake Cuppery in Dublin.

Now, it’s my birthday tomorrow and I stand very little chance of having anyone buy me a cake but,
if I could have any cake in the whole wide world this would be it….

'Elegant Vintage Cake'

Isn’t that the most exquisite cake you’ve ever seen?

And take a look at these cupcakes…

and as for the cake pops…

Cupperypops

Simply exquisite!

As a very good friend of mine, who lives in Dublin attended a wedding where Cat had supplied the 'dessert table' and I have it on very good authority that these taste as delicious as they look!

Now, perhaps I’ll spend the weekend in the kitchen….

What will you do?

Will you perhaps, make a card and join us in our challenges over on Facebook and in The Sugar Bowl?

There are some super sweet sugary prizes to be won!

However you choose to spend it…

Enjoy your weekend!

This little sweetie is Jelly Pip.  I love all the Sherbet Pips and decided to use one for a young girl's birthday card.  I've colored her with copics and colored pencils and used some bright and cheerful paper that I've had in my stash for awhile now.  You can find all of the adorable Pip stamps over at Funky Kits.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope you find some time to get inky this weekend!

SOS- I'm in love

What a difference a day makes, yesterday was one of weather watching as Katie joined in the small village community and took her cupcakes to the village square. We knew that all was not lost if the heavens opened and the day was called off as she always had the coffee shop, only a stones throw away from the square in Oldmeldrum to take refuge in. All the visitors would also need to follow for a hot cup of coffee and of course a yummy cup cake, it would be rude not to!

Two hours in and she was sold out, better that than the other as stalls can very much be a hit or a miss, with cakes there is no packing up the goods and selling at the next fair. I have done my share of craft fairs and there is not much I have not happen to me in my time. All in all, she sold out but that was good because I could not eat another cake by the end of the day!

I came home and after putting the kettle on, checked out what's been going on in the world.

I QUICKLY FELL IN LOVE.

Did your read Gayles post yesterday?

Where does she find these addictions, I blame Elaine Livesey, there is nothing trendy or super cute that she has not discovered ( and I thought I spent too much time surfing).

Enter the world of Amigurui???? I think we will just go with AMI for now.

It's a whole new world *sings in her best Disney voice*,......one that has opened my eyes.

Yes I am tempted to dig out my crochet hook, but its been 35 years and I know that I could never make them as cute as Tabby. With that in mind, I don't know if I can wait for her order book to open up. I want them all, now you might think that is being a tad greedy but if it's good then I appreciate the work and try to support the artist. rrrrrrrRIGHT!

Having surfed the net, I still come back to Tabby, I AM IN LOVE those colours are so soft and delicate, classy and perfect. Do I have the patience to wait? Am I a crafter! I will keep you informed.

BUT if you know of anything super cute like this that I find fall for, let me know ;)

But there is some lovely colours of yarn out there......

I cant follow Gayles post from yesterday, I am still swooning over those cuties and cant think straight.

I hope you have a nice Sunday, the weather is fine up here in Scotland, all is calm on the farm as lambing is over only three cows left to calf.

I did venture out to the caravan for some 12" papers yesterday, OMG what a mess, remember those sand storms last month?

Today I am going to play with felt, buttons and ribbons.

take care

Karen

Saturday Shenanigans

Happy Saturday everyone!

Firstly today , I am overwhelmed with entries for the Sweeties DT call, we are taking no more entries and I am in the midst of ‘shortlisting’ I expect to be able to announce the lucky ones on Tuesday 14th May, so not toooooo long to wait!!

Today I thought I’d share a, fairly recent, fascination with you all….

Crochet!

I would like to stress at the start though, that I CANNOT crochet, I don’t even own a hook!

However it is something I would LOVE to learn to do.

My initial interest was triggered by seeing the work of this lovely lady…Tab on a Facebook Page.

(the link takes you to her Facebook page through which you can order. As with all things handmade they are labour and time intensive and her order book is currently closed but keep watching )

How delicious are these little fellas????

I think like most crafters I can admire the amount of time and effort that goes into making ‘handmade’ and we all enjoy the process of creating whatever the ‘medium’.

I first came to crafting via cross stitch (although how I can do that when I struggle to sew on a button is mystifying), and I like to dabble with other things but crochet has become my new ‘must learn’.

If you search on You Tube for crochet tutorials there are, quite literally thousands to trawl through but one I found had the videos grouped into a beginners section HERE.

Of course, nothing beats a one to one session with an experienced crafter and my neighbours sister is expert in the art of crochet so I may bug her for a few lessons, or of course,
here in Sugarland both Ali and Erika have the crochet bug so perhaps a girls night with crochet hooks and wine is in order ladies?????

Of course, once you learn to crochet you can make those lovely little crochet flowers to add to your cards...two birds, one stone. lol

I'm curious to know....what is your next 'must learn craft'?

Now, if that has your crafty juices flowing, why don't you dig out some of your Sugar Nellie's and get creating?

If you do, please feel free to show us your creations, either, on our Facebook page and in The Sugar Bowl….as there are fabulous prizes to be won!

Enjoy your weekend!

Rouge Traders

Some of you know this UK programme that exposes thief's.
There is also Saints and Sinners who also run along the same lines.

I want you to be recognised as a SAINT and help US (Stamp Out Companies) bring attention to the SINNERS.

Some companies don't care, some of us do, we are small enough to be effected by the drop is sale due to PINTREST.

I love pintrest but there is a dark side, sharing of copyrighted art and patterns.

We cant do this alone, its spreading faster than we can report them.

Here is a message, please read.

Asking for HELP from our fans who use Pinterest (and please share with other crafters):

I (Mo) was up at 4AM this morning reporting my stolen images that were pinned on Pinterest again. I've been talking to Pinterest's lawyer and we are discussing how to best stop this -- people who are repeat infringers will be losing their Pinterest accounts.

But, I had an idea a while ago, more of a grass-roots style movement where those of you who DO pay for your stamps (and who respect copyright) help all the companies you love by cutting/pasting the entire message between the asterisks below into the comment section of any Pin or rePin where the user has posted an unwatermarked stamp image by a company you care about....

Let's see if we can get an army of crafters to fight this ever worsening trend before people have to start losing their Pinterest accounts.

If someone has already left the comment, go ahead and add your pasted message too -- we need all the comments we can get to make these pinners to pay attention to the fact that they're not only breaking the law, but they're ruining the stamp business:

********
THIEF!!

Whenever you see a copyrighted image on a "Pin" like this, you are looking at the page of a person who is helping to ruin the stamp business by sharing copyrighted illustrations illegally with thousands of Pinterest users. Stamp companies do NOT give away their images for people to post as "Free" on Pinterest. Please help Stamp companies and illustrators STAMP OUT Pinterest theft by copying and posting this entire message in the comment section of the offending Pin. If you know the name/company of the artist whose work is being stolen, let people know who you're commenting for!!
********

THANKS for the help of all our fans who have been reporting theft on Pinterest to us. xoxoMo     Don't feel bad about leaving a negative comment, remember this pinner has been caught , literally, with her hand in our purse.   Thank you for your support.   Karen

Eye Candy ♥

Good Morning Sugar Addicts :)

Before I start with Eye Candy...did everyone see Gayle's post on Saturday?

Mama Gayle is looking for a Sugar Bowl Sweetie or two to join our merry little band of stampers.
You have until 7pm (GMT) tomorrow evening to leave a comment marked 'private' on the post HERE if you wish to apply for a position.

What are you waiting for? If you don't apply then you'll certainly never get picked!

OK, back to the job I am here to do, announce this weeks winner of the Eye Candy badge.

This weeks badge is awarded to...

Deneen.  Her gorgeous card uses the digital image Flora.
The clean layout of the card perfectly showcases the image and Deneen's fabulous copic colouring skills.

Please take our badge Deneen, and thank you for entering our challenge with your beautiful card :)

A sweet Celebration!

Hello Everyone! Jane here today and I have a card to share with you which I made using the adorable 'Fizz' by Leanne Ellis. She is perfect for Congratulations cards with her huge bottle of bubbly!

I used some Crate Paper papers on my card and a sentiment from a Bobunny set and added lots of flowers from my stash as well as a little wooden star and resin flower.

I coloured my image with Promarkers and added some distress inks to the paper around the image while it was still in the die. I also added lots of glitter to the Champagne bottle and finished with some stick on gems and pearls. I hope you have a lovely Wednesday!
